How to make momos without steamer at home / momos recipe

 Momos are food which is first introduced in Nepal as dumbling food. Momos are flavorful and tasty. Let's start chicken and veggies momos recipe in my way;

INGREDIENTS:

All-purpose flour         1 cup
Salt                                as per taste
Water                             as required
Boneless chicken             200 grams
Cabbage                           1/2 cup chopped
Green bell pepper            1/3 cup chopped
Onion                               1 medium size chopped
Soy sauce                         2 tablespoons
Vinegar                            1 tablespoon
Ginger paste                     1 teaspoon
Black pepper powder             1 teaspoon
Chilli Flakes                           1 teaspoon
Green chilli                             1 medium size (finely chopped)
Oil                                            2 tablespoons

DIRECTIONS:

How to make momos dough?

Take and sieve all-purpose flour in a  medium-size bowl. Add 1/2 teaspoon of salt and black pepper powder and mix it. Add water slowly and mix it. Knead the dough for 3-4 minutes. At once, do not add all the water. if you add too much water at once, our dough will not come out perfect. Do not knead the dough much, our dough becomes hard. Rest it for 30 minutes.

Prepare dumpling for momos:

1. Take the boneless chicken and boil it. During boiling, add 1/2 teaspoon of salt and black pepper powder. After boiling, shred it well. Set aside.
2. In a frying pan, add oil. Add ginger paste and fry it for one minute.
3. Add chopped onion and cabbage into it and mix well. Cook it for 4-5 minutes.
4. Add chopped green bell pepper and cook for 3 minutes. 
5. Add shredded chicken, chilli flakes, salt, black pepper powder and then, mix it well.
6. Add vinegar and soy sauce, mix well and cook it for 3-5 minutes.
7. Switch off the flame and let it cool.

Assemble to make momos:

1. Take the dough balls, dust all-purpose flour on it. Roll it using a rolling pin. Edges should be thin but not thick at the centre.
2. Add the veggies and chicken mixture (dumpling) into the centre and secure the edges by bringing them close at one point.
3. By this, prepare all the momos.

How to steam momos without steamer at home?

Take a cooking pot (deghchi) and fill 3/4 with water. Boil the water. Now, put a round sieve on the cooking pot. Set momos on it. After set momos on it, brush it with oil. Now, cover the momos properly. Steam it for 10-15 minutes. During steaming, the flame should be medium.
After 10-15 minutes, dish out momos.

Momos sauce:

Take 1/4 cup of tomato ketchup. Add 1/3 tablespoon of salt and chilli flakes and mix it.
Make momos at home without steamer

                                          Dish it out and serve moms with momos sauce.

TIPS:

1. You can skip or add any veggie which you do not like.
2. Add spices and salt as per your liking.
