How to make chicken shawarma at home with pictures / easy shawarma recipe

 Shawarma is one of the popular and favourite fast food used as a snack. At first, Turkey made Shawarma dish known as Doner Kabab. Later with some modifications are done by Greek, they called it Gyros. Gyros mean turning. The Arab called it Shawarma which came from the Turkish word Cevirme. Cevirme also means turning. It is prepared with marinated meat. Shawarma is prepared with marinated meat, sauces, and vegetables as well. Then Let starts the recipe of delicious chicken shawarma recipe.


                                                Delicious shawarma

INGREDIENTS:

All-purpose flour(Maida)      1 and 1/2 cup

Yoghurt(Dahi)       1 tablespoon

Baking soda          1 teaspoon

Boneless chicken              250 grams

Tomato                   1 medium size

Green bell pepper(Optional)       1/2 medium size

Carrot              Half medium size

Cucumber        1/2

Vinegar           1 cup

Chilli flakes            2 tablespoons or as per taste

Paprika( red chilli powder)    1 tablespoon

Salt                3 tablespoon

Water                1/2 cup

Mayonnaise            1 cup

Chilli garlic sauce            2 tablespoons

Black pepper powder        1/2 teaspoon

DIRECTION:

STEP 1: Marinate the chicken

1. Take the boneless chicken and cut it into small cubes.

2. Take the bowl, add 1 tablespoon salt, 4 tablespoons of vinegar, 2 tablespoons of chilli flakes, 1/2 teaspoon of turmeric powder, and 1 tablespoon of paprika. Mix it well.

3. Add the cubes of chicken to the bowl of spices. Mix it well.

4. Marinate it for 2-3 hours.

STEP 2: Marinate the vegetables in vinegar 

1. Take carrot, tomato, green bell pepper, and cucumber.

2. Take a bowl Cut the vegetables into slices.

3. Neither cut too thick nor thin slices of vegetables.

4. Add the 2/3 cup of vinegar and 1 tablespoon of salt to the vegetables.

5. Mix it well. Marinate it for 2 hours.

6. By this, the taste of vegetable will become sour.

STEP 3: Make the shawarma bread

1. Take 1 and 1/2 cups of maida.

2. Add yoghurt, 1/2 tablespoon of salt, 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda, and 1/2 teaspoon of black pepper in maida.

3. Mix it well.

4.  Add water gradually and mix it well.

5. Make the dough.

STEP 4: Prepare the sauce

1. Take 2/3 cup of mayonnaise and 2 tablespoons of chilli garlic sauce. Mix it well.

2. Add 1/2 tablespoon of salt, chilli flakes, and 1/2 teaspoon of black pepper powder.

3. Mix it well.

4. In case you do not have a chilli garlic sauce, Add 1 tablespoon of tomato ketchup, 1/2 tablespoon of salt, 1 tablespoon of chilli flakes, 1/2 teaspoon of black pepper powder, and 1 teaspoon of garlic paste in the 2/3 cup of mayonnaise. Mix it well. Your sauce is prepared.

STEP 5: Cook 

1. Add 2 tablespoons of oil to the frying pan and fry the marinated chicken.

2. When the chicken cooked, dish it out and set it aside.

3. Take the small piece of dough and make the rounded bread like roti.

4. Cook it like the roti.

5. In the centre of the bread, spread the sauce using the spoon, the cooked chicken cubes, and marinated vegetables. And fold it.

Assemble the vegetables, sauce, and chicken at the centre of bread.

6. Fold it, then fold it in butter paper or tissue paper.

TIPS:

1. Do not cook too much bread.

2. Add the spices according to your taste.

3. Do not add water too much at once during making dough. A little bit of water, then mix it. Until you make the perfect dough.

4. You can skip vegetables if do not like them.
